Players take on the role of investors in the great Dutch polders of the Golden Age. As the name suggests, this is a game in the “flip & write” genre, where players draw areas and combine them with buildings to score points and complete objectives.
The game features a high level of player interaction because the game boards, which display the polders, are passed around after each drawing phase. This forces players to make tactical decisions about when to block opponents and when to focus on their own advantage.
Polders: Flip & Write was designed by Inge van Dasselaar and Alexander Kneepkens, especially for the BoardGameGeek Roll & Write Contest. In this competition, the game won first prize for “Best Thematic Game” and “Best Rules,” and placed second in the “Best Cover” category. The artwork was created by Groningen-based illustrator Esther Wijdeveld.
